Black, White, & Purple Wedding Cake and Cupcake Tower

January 20, 2014 by Rose 8 Comments

Today I’m sharing a Black, White, & Purple Wedding Cake and Cupcake Tower. This is the wedding cake that went along with the Corn Farming Tractor Groom’s Cake.

My pictures don’t do this set-up justice. As I’ve mentioned before, I really struggle with taking good pictures inside, and this day was no exception. More than half of my pictures were too blurry to consider and the ones that were not too blurry have a bad yellow-ish color cast. But I wanted to share anyway… so I am 😉

The cake and cupcakes were white cake (no almond) with purple gel coloring to match the wedding and add a little fun! For the 6″ round cake on top, it was filled and frosted with white chocolate buttercream, then covered in homemade marshmallow fondant.

I used gum paste and the black fondant to make the daises also. They were cut with the daisy cutter from the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set. PS – that pic was taken at my house where I could take advantage of natural light… I wish I had taken the time to set up the whole thing at home before so I’d have better pics. 🙁

I baked the cupcakes in black grease-proof liners and after piping on the frosting (see how to frost a cupcake like a pro here), I sprinkled white sugar pearls over the top of them.

I set these up on my Smart Baker Round Cupcake Stand and that was it! I love the way it all came together and I love doing things fun and different (like purple cake)!!

Do you have any questions about this cake and cupcake tower? Please leave a comment if you do!
