Virginia Locked into Fourth Seed, Will Play Wake Forest in Quarterfinals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The defending ACC Champion Virginia Cavaliers earned the North Region No. 4 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers will play South Region No. 1 seed Wake Forest in the quarterfinal round on Sunday, Nov. 15 in Winston-Salem. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and the match will air live on ACC Network.

The 2020 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship consists of an eight-team field with all quarterfinal play beginning on Sunday, Nov. 15. Advancing teams will play semifinal games on Wednesday Nov. 18 and the championship match will be on Sunday, Nov. 22 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be played at North Carolina campus sites (Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest).

Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be broadcast on ACC network while the championship match moves over to ESPNU.

The Cavaliers went 2-3-1 in the six-game ACC regular season that included home victories against Louisville and Syracuse. Virginia opened the season with a school-record four-straight overtime matches, with the first three occurring in a nine day span.

Wake Forest and Virginia met twice in the postseason last year, once in the ACC Tournament and again in the College Cup, both Virginia victories. The Cavaliers are a combined 18-0-5 against the Demon Deacons in ACC and NCAA postseason play.

Virginia won its 16h ACC Championship last season and 11 th tournament crown with a 3-1 win over Clemson at WakeMed Soccer Park. The 11 tournament titles are the most of any ACC school.

The Cavaliers are the North Region No. 4 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament and will square off against South Region No. 1 seed, Wake Forest in the Quarterfinal.
