This is the smart bottle you need if you hate drinking water
Water is the ultimate secret sauce to success. It helps maximize your physical performance, improve your mood and concentration, and lose weight, along with a host of other benefits.
But unlike a morning cup of coffee, water is forgettable. Boring. I often forget to drink it, and it seems I’m not alone. As many as 75% of Americans may suffer from chronic dehydration.
A new water bottle by the Chinese smart hardware startup Moikit seeks to offer a solution. The Seed bottle tracks your water consumption and nudges you to drink throughout the day, making it easier than ever to stay on top of your H2O game.
Here’s how it works: A sensor placed in Seed’s cap uses Moikit’s Air-Elastic technology to measure the volume of air left in the bottle after each sip. When you’ve gone too long without a drink, the cap vibrates and displays a reminder on its LED screen.
Tapping the lid shows you the water’s temperature, and twisting it reveals your daily hydration progress.
Seed syncs with the company’s free Android and iOS app via Bluetooth, so users can track their drinking habits in real time and set up reminder notifications. Inputting their weight and activity levels allows users to customize their intake schedule.
The high-tech bottle — which will come in three sizes and 12 colors upon launch — also works seamlessly with the third-party apps HealthKit and Jawbone.
Such convenience doesn’t come cheap: A 17-ounce Seed bottle runs $54 on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo. The cap’s battery lasts one to two years, and replacements will be available for purchase on the company’s website.
